Kara Brinster

Attorney at Law

Attorney Kara E. Brinster was born and raised in Wahpeton, North Dakota. Ms. Brinster graduated from Wahpeton High School and went on to attend North Dakota State College of Science and then North Dakota State University. Ms. Brinster received a Bachelor’s of Science from NDSU and then went on to the University of North Dakota for law school. She is married to Chad Brinster and they have one daughter. Kara enjoys spending time with her family, quilting, crafting and camping. Kara is a member of the Carrington Lions and the Jamestown Zonta Club. Kara has been practicing for 13 years in Family law and mediation. She is also the elected Foster County State’s Attorney. Kara prides herself on representing her clients in an effective and efficient manner, ensuring good outcomes for families.

Matthew Zimney

Attorney at Law

Attorney Matthew Zimney was born in Nashville Tennessee and grew up in Henderson, Nevada. Mr. Zimney came to North Dakota to play football for Jamestown College and went on to graduate from the North Dakota School of Law. He is married to Amanda Zimney and has two sons. Matthew enjoys spending time with his sons and doing anything outdoors and on the water, whenever possible. Matthew has been practicing for over seven years and has a passion for Family Law and helping individuals navigate through the judicial system to achieve their goals.

Amanda Lee

Certified Paralegal

Ms. Lee started as a certified paralegal with Brinster Law in February 2019. Prior to joining Brinster Law, Ms. Lee worked as a certified paralegal with, Stefanson Law, Moorhead, Minnesota, practicing in administrative law, personal injury, wrongful death, asbestos law employment law and corporate law. She was born and raised in Kensal, North Dakota and graduated from Kensal High School. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Minnesota State University, Moorhead's ABA approved paralegal program. Prior to receiving her degree she worked for Johnson, Rodenberg and Lauinger Law Firm, a firm specializing in collection law matters. In addition, she completed an internship with Chapman Law Firm, a firm specializing in criminal defense and immigration law. She is currently actively involved in the Kensal Community Sunday School and a member of the school board at Kensal Public School. In her spare time she enjoys helping on the family farm, camping, reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

Crystal Miller

Legal Secretary/Assistant

Ms. Miller joined Brinster Law as a Legal Secretary/Assistant in January 2022. Ms. Miller brings 9 years of experience to Brinster Law working as a legal secretary/assistant at previous law offices. Prior to reentering the legal field, Ms. Miller worked as an HIM Specialist in medical records for five years.


Ms. Miller is a lifelong resident of Carrington. She graduated from Carrington High School and married her high school sweetheart, Bruce. They have one daughter and son-in-law and are the proud new grandparents of their first grandchild. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and doing a little fishing with her husband.
